Over a year of planning. Twenty three locations. Thirty two puzzles. Forty four inner tubes. 484 wooden pegs. 1,056 foam tiles. 8,162 cube parts. These are just a few of the things that went into the Mooncurser's Handbook Game. If you're not familiar with The Game, Wikipedia is a good place to start. Games of this sort have been going on in various forms around the country since the mid eighties. Events range from the short Bay Area Night Game (BANG) to the one-day Shinteki to the full-length, all-weekend Game. Our event began Friday, August 19 at 6:00 pm at a hotel and conference center in Bellingham, WA. After a buffet dinner and some lively entertainment, the players (and game control) tried to get a good night's sleep. The game proper began the next morning at 8:30 and didn't stop until Sunday around 2:00 pm. By that time we were 120 miles away at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma. |
